A driving license for car is a nice tool to have, and with it, you are permitted to drive a car of up to 3500 kg. At Din Min Trafik driving school on Amager, you can get the statutory package for a b license, incl. theory and practical lessons, and we make sure that you are well prepared for the theory test as well as the driving test.
Which requirements are there for the driving license for car?
In order to get a driving license for car, a number of requirements must be met:
- Your official residence must be in Denmark
- You must have a medical certificate from your doctor stating that you are physically capable of driving a car
N.B.: A disability does not necessarily mean that you cannot get a driving license, but you have to get a medical certificate from your doctor documenting your physical and mental state
- You must have turned 17 years of age when taking your driving test
- You must have completed a traffic-related first aid course
This is the earliest age where you can start taking driving lessons
Many want their driving license as early as possible, as it opens up a multitude of opportunities. The earliest time you can start your driving lessons is 3 months prior to your 17th birthday, and the lessons must as a minimum be spread out over 14 days.
However, there can be some waiting time for theory and driving lessons, which means that if you want your driving license as quickly as possible, it is a good idea to start lessons well in advance.
This is how to get a driving license for car
In order to actually have the driving license in your hands, you must complete theoretical as well as practical lessons for driving as well as understanding traffic signs and traffic regulations. The lesson requirements are stipulated by the Danish Road Traffic Authority, and you must as a minimum complete 29 theory lessons, 16 practical lessons, 4 lessons on the beginner's track and 4 lessons on the technical track. This is referred to as the statutory car package.
It is possible to purchase additional practical lessons, if you need more instruction before taking the driving test. It is not cheap to get a driving license, and if you do not pass your test the first time around, you must pay an additional fee for a new test. You can read more about our prices here.
